Anne McCorkle Garrett has been involved in the United Methodist Church since she was a child. She remembers her mother going over the Sunday School leaflets with her, and playing hymns on the piano. She has loved church, Bible studies, and spirituality ever since!
In addition to earning a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary with an emphasis in Preaching & Worship, Anne completed a certificate in Ecumenism through the Washington Theological Consortium, and studied Greek and Hebrew at the Ecumenical Institute. She was a UM delegate to the National Council of Churches, and also served on the Board of Directors of the Central Maryland Ecumenical Council.
A high point was a Celtic pilgrimage to the British Isles to study the spirituality of the Celtic Church. Anne enjoys Taizé worship, liturgical dance, and other creative forms of worship.
She has served as Minister of Outreach at Mays Chapel where she planned family programs, Pastor at Brooklyn Heights UMC, and Pastor of Deer Creek and Mount Tabor UM churches. Anne has also been Director of Christian Education at St. James’ Episcopal Church, Monkton, and Director of Children’s & Family Ministries at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sweet Air.
She lives in Baldwin with her husband, Joe. She has two grown children, Rebecca and Daniel, who loved Camp Manidokan. Anne and Joe enjoy all things Celtic! He plays bagpipes with the Baltimore City Pipe Band, and she plays handbells with the Canterbury Ringers.
